Knowledge, Impressions and Fact

Right from childhood days, history is confined to what is taught in text books. Text books are also written with some stand point with some favorable interpretations of the past data.

One very good example is the Aryan invasion theory. I was always taught that Aryans are some group/herd of people who used to live around Caucasians mountains. They came on horses down thru the Hindukush Mountains to Punjab. These Aryans fought against the native Dravidians and settled themselves in the fertile region of Punjab and Ganga-Jamuna doab. In later years they constructed vedas, upnishadas which form the basis of Hindu culture. Hence the current Indian culture is a mixture of various cultures of natives and those of invaders over the centuries. The Sanskrit language, the customs, idol worship, the fair skin and light eyes in Indian culture are all Aryan influences. Later when Mohonjodaro and Harappa excavations came into the light, it was determined that they were pre-Aryan. The reasons being, evidence of earthen gray ware, knowledge of iron and a script which could not be deciphered. In fact it was also claimed that Aryans actually must have invaded these Mohonjodoro locals because of skeletons found in a room as well as Vedic references to Indra-Dasyu war.

Obviously there are several loopholes in the entire theory. Being a theory it has the advantage of being an interpretation based on certain facts and situation at that point in time. However the theory is now almost accepted as truth and new generation indians have no qualms in accepting it as it is.
Fortunately there are some around who unlike others want to try and straighten the facts for others to see and comprehend and take it further. There have been several sources on internet which help you understand the fallacies of this theory. I am very thankful to all those known and anonymous sources and researchers because that is the reason i could gather knowledge and form an opinion.
Let me put down some arguments which are so solid that Aryan invasion theory just falls apart.

1. There is no evidence in any Indian/Hindu literature which mentions journey from Caucasians to Punjab. The people who were so artistic and poetic in their outlook when they described nature around them , would not miss the entire epic journey, if it ever took place.
2. Nowhere in Indian literature, there is any reference to mainland Caucasian landscape, rivers , mountains. This is unlikely from those who have worshipped many rivers and Himalayas from various suktas.
3. There is never a mention of vast Indian subcontinent with natives, who were killed and conquered. The only reference on which the whole theory was built was the description of Indra's war against dasyu and his name as Purandar which means destroyer of forts.
4. Nowhere is mentioned Aryans as a race. However Arya being a reference to a noble person and is used as a sign of respect.
5. We as Indians have never been taught from our ancestors in the form of stories, puranas etc, that we are aliens to this land. This has always been our place in the world.
6. Aryans coming from Caucasians mountains rode using horse chariots!!! Chariots are best used on plane ground which is ample in Punjab and other regions.
7. Saraswati river is supposed to have dried up around 1900 BS. Vedas have elaborate descriptions about Saraswati's might as river. Hence they must have been constructed before it dried up. The current calculations show that Mahabharata must have occurred around 3000 BC. Mohonjodaro and Harappa excavation date till 2500 BC. All evidence point that Mohonjodaro and Harappa were Vedic culture only, nobody invaded them definitely not Aryans.

This takes the Indian culture back in history before any other culture. That might be reason for many headaches and such false theories.
Going to the reason why this theory was over published and accepted from Indians on others alike might be the influence of Europe on India during the Formation of theory l. It was evident that this was done to factor Indian social mind on one more dimension of Aryan and natives. This would help in making British as new Aryan race
Surprisingly Maxmueller himself, who is the creator of this theory has said later that Aryans is not a race but a mindset.

We really need to stop and think if we are to continue to believe this thought process which has worked very negatively on our psyche. Better would be to provide our new generations with the facts and figures matching them to make their own fresh interpretations.
